Islamabad, 29 August, 2023 (GNP): Acting Deputy Secretary of State and Under Secretary for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland spoke today with Pakistani Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani.

During the call the Acting Deputy Secretary Nuland emphasized the vitality of holding free, fair, and timely elections in Pakistan, and outlined the importance of holding elections consistent with Pakistan’s laws and constitution.
Moreover, the US State Department also highlighted its concern in a statement for transparent elections in Pakistan reflecting democratic aspirations of its people.

Acting Deputy Secretary Nuland and interim Foreign Minister of Pakistan Jalil Jilani also discussed issues of mutual concern including Pakistan’s economic stability, and its continued engagement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
They also optimistically discussed the future of Pak-U.S. relations. During the conversation, Acting Deputy Secretary also reiterated USA’s continued support to Pakistan.
In addition, they also underlined the diplomatic efforts to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries, and address shared concerns.
