A nation’s progress depends on workers’ prosperity, Syedal Khan

Quetta  (GNP) :-   Acting Chairman Senate, Syedal Khan Nasar, stated on the occasion of International Labour Day that May 1 is not merely a date on the calendar, but a symbol of workers’ historic struggle, enduring sacrifices, and a renewed commitment to social justice.

A dignified ceremony was held in Quetta to mark Labour Day, where the Acting Chairman Senate attended as the Chief Guest. The event was attended by Postmaster General Balochistan Manzoor Ahmed Bangulzai, Secretary General of the Postal Workers Federation Sheikh Shakir Hussain, along with Abdul Maroof Azad, Sattar Sawani, Muhammad Ali Barani, Syed Sharafuddin, Mir Qadir Lango, Ghulam Dastagir, Shadi Khan, Muhammad Hasni, Shabbir Ahmed Mengal, and a large number of individuals from various walks of life, including labour representatives.

During the ceremony, tribute was paid to the martyrs of Chicago, and detailed discussions were held on the challenges faced by workers. On this occasion, the Acting Chairman Senate assured that all possible measures would be taken to address workers’ issues.

In his address, Syedal Khan Nasar emphasized that Pakistan’s economic growth and stability depend heavily on the hard work, skills, and dedication of its labour force. He remarked that the prosperity of workers is directly linked to the progress of the nation.

He further noted that Parliament, particularly the Senate, has always played an active role in pro-labour legislation and policymaking, and this commitment will continue in the future.

The Acting Chairman Senate highlighted that the current government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, is taking practical steps for the welfare of workers, farmers, and underprivileged segments of society. Various welfare programs have been introduced to provide maximum relief to the public.

He added that the tireless efforts of the working class toward national development and prosperity are highly commendable, and in Islam, earning a lawful livelihood through hard work holds great dignity and respect.

Appreciating the contributions of overseas Pakistani workers, he said they not only support their families but also play a vital role in strengthening the national economy. He reaffirmed that protecting their rights remains a top priority of the government.
