Islamabad –: Rayatullah Khan, widely known as Khan Baba, Chairman of the World Peace Jirga Program (WPJP), has officially announced the establishment of the Women Peace Jirga Program under the visionary leadership of Sadia Khan (Khan Bibi). She has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Women Peace Jirga Program across all provinces and territories of Pakistan. To mark this historic initiative, a national seminar and official announcement ceremony was held on 27th July 2025 at Federal Lounge 1, Zarghoon Road, Quetta, where women from various sectors including business, NGOs, civil society, and other key stakeholders actively participated and expressed overwhelming support. Speakers from diverse backgrounds praised the launch of the Women Peace Jirga, acknowledging it as a timely and essential step toward inclusive development and national harmony. The Women Peace Jirga Program is a pioneering initiative designed to empower women, promote peace, and ensure their meaningful inclusion in the decision-making and nation-building processes. WPJP has already established its Jirga system and working committees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. A Grand National seminar and oath-taking ceremony for newly appointed provincial Women Jirga members will be held by the end of August 2025 at the National Library, Islamabad, near the Prime Minister’s Office. This important gathering will include representatives from federal ministries, foreign embassies, civil society, and government institutions, marking a milestone toward strengthening women’s leadership in Pakistan. This initiative has received strong encouragement and facilitation from the Government of Pakistan, with special gratitude extended to Chief Secretaries, Home Secretaries, Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Inspectors General, DIGs, SSPs, and the Chief Minister of Balochistan for their cooperation during coordination visits and field outreach. In regions like Balochistan, where women have historically been denied leadership opportunities, the Women Peace Jirga provides a dedicated and secure platform for women to raise their voices, gain access to national development funds, and play a decisive role in peacebuilding, governance, and socio-economic progress. The need for such a platform is more pressing than ever, as women’s participation is key to sustainable peace and inclusive growth. The WPJP also plans to organize international donor conferences in Islamabad, Iran, Dubai, Riyadh, Qatar, the United Kingdom, and the United States, to engage with global partners and mobilize resources for long-term development projects — especially those focused on empowering women and improving livelihoods in marginalized areas. Chairman Rayatullah Khan (Khan Baba) and Chairperson Sadia Khan (Khan Bibi) earnestly appeal to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, President of Pakistan, Chief of Army Staff, Chief Ministers, Chief Secretaries, Corps Commanders, Federal Ministries, and District Administrations to extend their full support, provide security, and allocate special development funds to strengthen the Women Peace Jirga Program. “Together, let us build a peaceful, inclusive, and empowered Pakistan — where women are not just participants but pioneers of change.”
