Science Camp sparks curiosity and inspires creativity in kids, Dr Tanveer

AIOU Hosts Young Scientists’ Camp

Islamabad, : Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has launched a five-day Young Scientists’ Camp with the aim of promoting scientific thinking, research skills, and creativity among the new generation.
Another key objective of the camp is to enhance students’ observation, analytical and problem-solving abilities through hands-on scientific experiments—preparing them to become confident, skilled, and independent contributors to society.
The camp is organized by the Department of Science Education( Faculty of Education) in collaboration with the Pakistan Science Club and the ECO Science Foundation.
The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Muhammad Tanveer Afzal, Head of the Department of Science Education; Ghulam Abbas from the ECO Science Foundation; Abdul Rauf, Founder and CEO of the Pakistan Science Club; along with teachers, parents, and a large number of enthusiastic children.
Dr. Muhammad Tanveer Afzal stated that educational initiatives like the Summer Science Camp ignite scientific curiosity and foster creative thinking in children. He credited Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood for providing a constructive, engaging, and learning-rich environment during the summer break. He noted that Dr. Mahmood’s visionary leadership has transformed AIOU into a dynamic research-oriented institution.
Ghulam Abbas of the ECO Science Foundation reaffirmed his organization’s commitment to advancing science so that today’s children can become tomorrow’s scientists. Abdul Rauf, CEO of the Pakistan Science Club, described the camp as a “nursery for young scientists,” saying their approach nurtures children’s natural desire to learn through scientific exploration.
Children have been grouped into two age categories—7 to 9 years and 10 to 15 years—to ensure developmentally appropriate learning experiences. They are enthusiastically participating in various scientific experiments, model building, research projects, and creative activities.
