Islamabad : Chairman Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, has observed that Indian oppression and state-sponsored violence in Indian occupied Kashmir failed to weaken the spirit of the Kashmiri people.
He conveyed a strong message of solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on the occasion of Kashmiris’ Accession to Pakistan Day, observed annually on 19th July. This day marks the historic decision made by the Kashmiri people in 1947 to accede to Pakistan, reflecting their political will and emotional attachment to the country.
In his message, Chairman Senate stated that “19th July is a reminder of the historic and brave decision of the Kashmiri people to join Pakistan. This bond is not merely based on geography but is rooted in the hearts of the people.”
He condemned the ongoing Indian occupation and the relentless suppression of fundamental rights in the region. Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani highlighted that even the third generation of Kashmiris remains determined in their peaceful struggle for the right to self-determination.
He reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue to extend its full diplomatic, moral, and political support to the people of Kashmir until they achieve their legitimate rights.
Calling upon the international community, Chairman Senate urged global powers and human rights organizations to play their role in ensuring that Kashmiris are granted their right to self-determination in accordance with UN resolutions.
