Ibiza Police Probe Suspected Forged Papers From Tindouf Camps

Ibiza (GNP): Spanish police have raised suspicions of document forgery involving individuals from the Tindouf camps, according to a document from the National Police in Ibiza. The paper is dated October 1, 2026, and carries the signature of the Unit Against Immigration Networks and Document Forgery (UCRIF).

The document is titled “Suspicions of Document Forgery Involving Individuals from the Tindouf Camps in the Context of the Spanish Project Relating to the Nationality of Sahrawis.” It points to irregularities in paternal lineage documents, which were allegedly presented to various Spanish organisations and companies.

The police have requested a verification process, which shows the attention being paid to the authenticity of papers originating from the Tindouf camps. What is at stake goes beyond social benefits. These documents are used in the naturalisation process for Sahrawis and their descendants born in the Sahara under Spanish administration, as set out in the new draft law, so access to Spanish nationality is also involved.

The document also mentions the possible involvement of networks linked to the Polisario Front and its affiliates. It says such networks could facilitate the production and circulation of forged documents, or even encourage their use to obtain rights and social benefits in Spain.

These points remain suspicions at this stage. The investigations have yet to establish who is responsible, and no individual or group has been formally held accountable.

For UCRIF, the case serves as a wake-up call. The unit advocates traceability of documents, stricter and more rigorous controls, and better cooperation between institutions.

UCRIF said, “This case is a wake-up call.”
