Islamabad (GNP): The 2027 Men’s Cricket World Cup has drawn more than 1.1 million ticket applications during the opening weekend of its ballot, organisers said on Tuesday.
More than 320,000 fans have registered for the ballot, which stays open until November 21. The interest comes as the 14-team tournament prepares to be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
Among the matches, one stands out. The India-Pakistan clash has attracted more than 110,000 applications, making it the biggest draw so far and underlining the enduring global appeal of the arch-rivals.
India’s other fixtures are also in high demand. The match against South Africa has received more than 92,000 applications, while over 86,000 have been submitted for the game against Australia.
The scale of the response surprised even the organisers. International Cricket Council (ICC) Chief Executive Sanjog Gupta described the early demand as unprecedented. He said it reflected the stature of the World Cup and the passion surrounding international cricket.

The tournament itself is still almost a year away. It will be staged across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia from October 2 to November 21, 2027.
With the ballot still open, organisers expect demand to rise further as fans compete for seats at one of cricket’s biggest global events.
Gupta said, “More than one million ticket applications in just over 48 hours.”
