Nagoya (GNP): Pakistan’s Ghulam Mustafa Bashir has qualified for the final of the men’s 25 metres rapid-fire pistol event at the 2026 Asian Games, after a strong qualification round on Thursday.
The Olympian shooter finished sixth among 28 competitors at the Aichi Prefecture General Shooting Gallery. He scored 578 points with 19 inner tens, recorded as Xs, which was enough for a place in the eight-man final.
His result came down to a tiebreak. Kazakhstan’s Nikita Chiryukin also scored 578, but Bashir ranked ahead of him on the number of inner tens.
China’s Su Lianbofan set the pace for the whole field. He topped the standings with 592 points and 24 Xs, a new Asian Games qualification record.
South Korea’s Lee Gunhyeok took second place with 588 points, while his compatriot Yoon Seoyeong was third with 581. Chiryukin followed in fifth, with Bashir directly behind him in sixth.
