Islamabad (GNP): First Lady Bibi Asifa Bhutto Zardari has extended warm congratulations to Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri on her historic appointment as the first woman to serve as Prime Minister of Morocco.
The First Lady said that, as the daughter of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto — the first woman to lead a Muslim-majority nation as Prime Minister — she feels a personal connection to this milestone. She noted that Bhutto’s pioneering legacy continues to inspire generations of women across the Muslim world and beyond.
She wished the new Moroccan Prime Minister success in her responsibilities and conveyed warm regards to both El Mansouri and the people of Morocco, expressing hope that this historic achievement would encourage more women and girls across the Muslim world to pursue leadership positions and contribute to their societies’ progress and prosperity.
El Mansouri, 50, was tasked with forming a new government following her party’s strong showing in recent parliamentary elections, under Morocco’s constitutional monarchy. King Mohammed VI appointed her to the role after her Authenticity and Modernity Party secured the largest share of seats in the vote.

According to foreign media reports, the party won 97 of the 395 seats in parliament — 31 seats ahead of its nearest rival, which took 66. Since the party fell short of an outright majority, it will need to form a coalition government with other political groups to govern.
