Islamabad (GNP): The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has set up a dedicated Corporate Debt Market Desk aimed at promoting the country’s corporate debt market and making it easier for companies to raise capital through debt instruments.
The desk is designed to simplify and speed up the debt issuance process while reducing associated costs for issuers.
The initiative comes on the direction of Federal Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, who called for developing a more active and efficient corporate debt market to give businesses alternative long-term financing options beyond traditional bank lending.
A senior SECP official has been appointed to head the new desk, which will support both public offerings and private placements of corporate debt securities, along with facilitating PSX listings, Sukuk issuance, and other Shariah-compliant debt instruments.
To complement the initiative, SECP has also launched a dedicated Corporate Debt Market section on its website, providing relevant regulatory information, market data, guidance materials, and contact details for the desk’s focal person.
SECP Chairman Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu said a stronger corporate debt market would help diversify long-term financing options, attract institutional investment, and support growth in infrastructure and industry.

The new desk is part of SECP’s broader effort to reform the corporate debt market by simplifying issuance procedures, reducing costs, and standardizing documentation to encourage greater participation from both issuers and investors.
