Karachi (GNP): Pakistan Navy marked the country’s 79th Independence Day with national pride, traditional enthusiasm, and military ceremony.
A formal Change of Guard ceremony took place at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, where a smartly turned-out contingent of cadets from the Pakistan Naval Academy, along with naval personnel, took over guard duties with characteristic spirit and military tradition.
Rear Admiral Muhammad Umair, Commandant of the Pakistan Naval Academy, attended as chief guest and reviewed the guard. He presented the Qaumi Salam to the Father of the Nation and laid a floral wreath at the mausoleum on behalf of the Chief of the Naval Staff. He then offered Fatiha and wrote in the Visitors’ Book, paying tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s visionary leadership and his unmatched role in the creation of Pakistan.
The day’s observances began with a 21-gun salute at Pakistan Navy units and special prayers held in naval mosques across the country, offered for peace, prosperity, and national unity. Flag-hoisting ceremonies were also held at naval installations in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Petaro, Sujawal, Sanghar, Gwadar, and Ormara to mark the occasion.
Marking the day, Pakistan Navy reaffirmed its commitment to defending Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to maintaining the highest level of operational readiness to respond to any threat to national security.
