National EV Policy reviewed to boost global promotion and investment

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan Meets with Mosharraf Zaidi

Islamabad : Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan, held an important meeting with Mr. Mosharraf Zaidi to discuss the Electric Vehicle (EV) policy. The meeting was also attended by the Secretary of Industries and Production, Mr. Saif Anjum, CEO of the Engineering Development Board, Mr. Khuda Bakhsh, and Additional Secretary, Mr. Asif Saeed Lughmani.

During the meeting, key discussions were held on the approval of the National Electric Vehicle Policy, its promotion at the international level, and strategies to attract investment in the EV sector.
Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif envisions increasing the market share of electric vehicles — including two, three, and four-wheelers — to 30% by the year 2030. He emphasized that the National EV Policy is a crucial step toward reducing dependence on oil and ensuring environmental sustainability.

Mr. Mosharraf Zaidi highlighted the importance of introducing the Electric Vehicle Policy on a global scale, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision, and expressed his support for promoting Pakistan’s EV potential internationally.
