Islamabad (GNP): Following an intensive day of training in Mobile Journalism (MoJo), digital storytelling, and documentary filmmaking, nearly 60 participants of the National Youth Mobile Travel & Tourism Videography Competition 2026, organized by the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) in collaboration with Vivo Pakistan, embarked on practical field assignments across three iconic tourism and heritage destinations in Punjab.

The participants have been divided into teams and deployed to Rohtas Fort, Katas Raj Temples, and Patriata (New Murree), where they will apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the first day of training to produce original tourism-focused content using only their smartphones.

The field exercise is designed to provide participants with hands-on experience in documentary production, visual storytelling, interviewing, mobile cinematography, and digital content creation. During the assignment, participants are required to produce social media reels as well as a three-minute documentary film highlighting the cultural, historical, natural, and human stories associated with their respective locations.

The initiative seeks to promote Pakistan’s tourism assets through authentic storytelling while equipping emerging content creators with practical skills relevant to the modern digital media landscape.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Aftab ur Rehman Rana, Managing Director, PTDC, said, “Every destination has a story, and every story has the power to inspire a journey. Through the National Youth Mobile Travel & Tourism Videography Competition, PTDC is investing in a new generation of storytellers who will help redefine how Pakistan is seen by the world. By combining creativity, technology, and tourism, we are creating opportunities for young people to become champions of Pakistan’s heritage, culture, and natural beauty.”

Mr. Rana added that experiential learning is central to the program, allowing participants to engage directly with tourism destinations and transform their observations into compelling narratives that can inspire travel and promote Pakistan’s diverse cultural and natural heritage.

The documentaries and social media content produced during the field exercise will be evaluated by an independent panel of media, filmmaking, tourism, and digital content experts. Based on creativity, storytelling, technical execution, and tourism promotion potential, the jury will select the Top 20 participants.

The selected participants will be awarded an exclusive seven-day documentary and storytelling expedition to Pakistan’s Northern Areas, fully sponsored by PTDC. The educational journey will provide participants with an opportunity to further refine their storytelling skills while documenting some of Pakistan’s most scenic and culturally significant destinations.

In addition, the Top Three participants will receive Vivo smartphones to support their future work in mobile photography, videography, and digital storytelling.

The National Youth Mobile Travel & Tourism Videography Competition reflects PTDC’s commitment to nurturing a new generation of tourism storytellers capable of promoting Pakistan’s diverse heritage, culture, landscapes, and visitor experiences through innovative digital media. By combining training, field immersion, competition, and mentorship, the initiative aims to create a network of content creators who can contribute to building a positive and compelling tourism narrative for Pakistan.
