Pak-Lebanon Fostering Closer Military-to-Military Cooperation

Rawalpindi (GNP): General Rodolphe Haykal, Commander-in-Chief of the Lebanese Armed Forces, paid an official visit to General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where he was received by the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

Upon his arrival at GHQ, General Haykal was accorded a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent.

The two military leaders held wide-ranging discussions covering matters of mutual interest, the evolving regional security landscape, and avenues for deepening defence cooperation. Talks centred on strengthening professional exchanges, training collaboration, and institutional ties between the armed forces of the two nations.

Field Marshal Munir underlined the value Pakistan places on its enduring and friendly relationship with Lebanon, reiterating the Pakistan Army’s resolve to broaden its defence partnership with the Lebanese Armed Forces.

General Haykal, in turn, praised the professionalism and operational capabilities of Pakistan’s military and acknowledged its meaningful contributions to regional stability and international peacekeeping missions.

The visit is seen as a reflection of both countries’ shared desire to advance military-to-military engagement at a time when Pakistan is playing an active diplomatic role in mediating the broader regional tensions stemming from the US-Israeli conflict with Iran, a crisis that has also had repercussions for Lebanon.

General Haykal undertook the visit at the invitation of his Pakistani counterpart, underscoring the strength of the bilateral military relationship.
