Westminster International School Proudly Hosted Its Inaugural TEDx Event

Islamabad – Romina Khurshid Alam, Coordinator to the Prime Minister for Climate Change, attended Westminster International School’s inaugural TEDx event as the chief guest. The school proudly hosted the event, bringing together students, educators, and thought leaders to share ideas aimed at inspiring positive change.

In her address, Romina Khurshid Alam highlighted the vital link between environmental protection and education. She emphasized the need to empower young people with knowledge, awareness, and responsibility to tackle climate challenges and build a sustainable future.

Westminster International School, a leading institution recognised for its commitment to innovative and globally relevant education, proudly hosted its first-ever TEDx event held at the Bahria Campus, Islamabad, the event marked a significant milestone not only for the school but also for the academic and youth community of the twin cities.
The inaugural TEDx event brought together an exceptional line-up of thought leaders, innovators, and change-makers who engaged audiences in meaningful dialogue across a wide spectrum of contemporary and transformative topics. The platform encouraged reflection, discussion and forward-looking perspectives aligned with global and national challenges.
The theme of the event, “Chain Reaction: Ideas in Motion,” explored the power of ideas to initiate meaningful change. It emphasised how individual actions and concepts, when set into motion, can generate far-reaching impact across social, economic, and environmental domains. The theme resonated strongly with the audience, reinforcing the role of ideas as catalysts for progress and transformation.
A central focus of the event was the empowerment of youth, recognising them as the driving force behind national development and future leadership. The TEDx platform aimed to inspire young minds, encourage purposeful thinking, and motivate students to actively contribute to positive change within their communities and beyond.
Eight distinguished guest speakers delivered compelling talks, each offering unique insights drawn from their professional and personal journeys. The speakers included Ismail Nasir, Ozair Arts, Maryam Arif, Fajer Rabia Pasha, Adeel Shahid, Imran Ali Dina, Zainamatics, and Hashim Nawaz. Their presentations addressed themes ranging from innovation and technology to sustainability, social responsibility and personal growth.
Complementing the intellectual discourse, the event featured a vibrant programme of live performances and interactive activities that enhanced audience engagement. Performances by Aafi Bakshi, Akbar Niazi, Mazdoori, Takhleeq, Adam Shehzad, and Abdul Rafay, along with an energetic beatboxing performance by Abdullah Armaghan, added dynamism to the event. A theatrical skit by the Dramatics Society and a special appearance by Shampy Gang further contributed to the lively and engaging atmosphere.

The occasion was honoured by the presence of notable dignitaries, including Romina Khurshid Alam, Coordinator to the Prime Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination; Muhammad Shehzad Khan, President of the Youth Council of Pakistan; and Malik Mohammad Habib Khan, Former Inspector General and Federal Minister for Interior & Narcotics Control, and Member of the Prime Minister’s Inspection Commission. Raheel Sajjad Khan, CEO and Founder of Westminster International School, warmly welcomed the guests and speakers, acknowledging their valuable contributions to the event.

The Student Executive Committee, comprising Wanya Hammad (Event Organiser), Mahnoor Fatima (Event Curator), Abdul Rafay (Director General), Musa Mudassar (Event Manager), and Iman Mukhtar (External Event Manager), played a pivotal role in planning and executing the event to a high standard.
