Ambassador of Denmark Calls on Federal Minister Dr. Musadik Malik
Islamabad :- Ambassador of Denmark to Pakistan, Maja Mortensen, called on the Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik. During the meeting, both sides held an in-depth discussion on the evolving dimensions of science diplomacy in the context of the current global political landscape.
Dr. Musadik Malik highlighted the disproportionate burden of climate change borne by countries of the Global South, despite their comparatively lower contribution to global emissions. He noted that nearly 70 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions originate from just ten countries, which also receive approximately 85 percent of global green financing.
Federal Minister appreciated the strong social welfare models and progressive environmental values of the Nordic countries. The meeting also included an exchange of views on the prevailing global political situation and its implications for climate action and international cooperation.
Dr. Musadik Malik briefed the Ambassador on Pakistan’s plans to establish a Green University, to foster joint research initiatives, as well as student and faculty exchange programmes, in collaboration with leading universities across the world. The Ambassador and the Minister reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and enhancing collaboration in climate action and science diplomacy.
