PEC Mobilizes Pakistan’s Industrial Giants to Power the National GET Revolution

Karachi witnessed a landmark moment in Pakistan’s engineering history as the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) signed strategic MoUs with the country’s leading public and private sector organizations to launch the Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Placement Program at scale. The MoU signing ceremony was held at the Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi, under the chairmanship of PEC Chairman Engr. Waseem Nazir, and was attended by Vice Chairman Sindh Engr. Mukhtar Sheikh, PEC Governing Body Members, senior PEC officials, and representatives of partner organizations.
The ceremony brought together the leadership of Pakistan’s critical national institutions and industrial champions—sending a clear message that industry has fully aligned with PEC to transform how engineers are produced, trained, and deployed.

Public sector partners include Pakistan Airports Authority, Karachi Port Trust, Naval Research & Development Institute, Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works, Pakistan Machine Tool Factory, and DHA Pakistan, representing the backbone of Pakistan’s aviation, maritime, defense, and infrastructure ecosystem.
The private sector coalition—Dewan Cement, H. Nizam Din & Sons, Mak Power, Alsons Industries, Harbin Electric, Cnergyico, Pakistan Cables, Yunus Textile Mills, and Inbox Business Technologies—represents a broad spectrum of energy, manufacturing, ICT, textiles, and industrial innovation. These organizations have committed to opening their operations, plants, and projects to young engineers, offering structured industrial exposure, professional mentoring, and performance-based career grooming under PEC’s national framework.
Addressing the ceremony, Chairman PEC Engr. Waseem Nazir said that the Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Placement Program is a structured, fully PEC-funded initiative designed to provide real-world exposure and hands-on professional training to fresh engineering graduates. He noted that the program bridges the gap between academic education and industry requirements, enhancing employability and professional competence. The Chairman further shared that the first batch of the GET Program has already been launched, with 600 young engineers placed in 40 national organizations across the country, marking a major milestone in institutionalizin

g post-graduation training for engineers.
AVM Zeeshan Saeed, Director General Pakistan Airports Authority, lauded PEC’s leadership and termed the GET Program a “national investment in engineering excellence,” while presenting a commemorative shield to Chairman PEC. Rear Admiral Kashif Munir, General Manager Karachi Port Trust, reaffirmed KPT’s full institutional support for the initiative, stating that industry participation is critical for developing an industry-ready engineering workforce. With key public and private sector organizations standing shoulder-to-shoulder with PEC, the GET Program has emerged as a national movement—transforming engineering graduates into professionals and talent into national strength.
