Data-driven policies and multidisciplinary partnerships to improve healthcare in Pakistan, Experts

International Conference on Health Professionals’ Education & Research Concluded

Islamabad: 1st International Conference on Health Professionals’ Education, Research & Entrepreneurship (ICHPERE 2025) concluded successfully at the Health Services Academy (HSA) Shahpur Campus Islamabad, bringing together leading national and international experts, scholars, researchers, and policymakers dedicated to strengthening the future of health education and research in Pakistan.

The two-day conference organised in collaboration with COMSTECH, Prime Institute of Health Sciences featured a dynamic series of keynote talks, scientific sessions, and interactive discussions focused on advancing healthcare education, promoting innovative research models, and encouraging entrepreneurship within the health sector.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by distinguished personalities, including Prof. Dr. Shahzad Ali Khan, Vice Chancellor HSA Islamabad; Major General Tariq Zamir, HI(M), Retd; Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj, President PM&DC; Major General Professor Dr. Najam Saqib Khan HI(M), T.Bt, Retd, Dean Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences and Principal Islamic International Medical College; Prof. Dr. Janet Grant, University College London Medical School, UK; Prof. Dr. Ahmed Rashid, Professor and Pro-Director Education LSHTM, UK; Prof. Dr. Samina Naeem, Head RMNCH Department HSA; Prof. Dr. Iqbal Khan, Vice Chancellor STMU Islamabad; Prof. Dr. Syed Zafar Ilyas, Vice Chancellor Kohat University of Science and Technology; Prof. Dr. Junaid Sarfraz Khan, Rector/Director Academics HSA; Prof. Dr. Afsheen Shaheed, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University; Prof. Afzal, Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute; Professor Madeeha, University of Lahore; Professor Dr. Saad Asad, Principal RIHS and President Pakistan Association of Orthodontics; Prof. Dr. Mehwish, Principal University of Lahore; and Dr. Ujala Siddeeq, Rawal Institute of Health Sciences, along with other renowned professors who highlighted the essential role of academic leadership and institutional collaboration in meeting modern health challenges. Prominent health leaders, senior faculty members, and representatives from various health institutions also graced the opening session.

A special acknowledgment was extended to Abdul Wajid, Chairman PRIME Institute of Health Sciences Islamabad, for his valuable support, participation, and continuous commitment to strengthening health education and capacity-building initiatives in the country.

Throughout the conference, experts emphasized the importance of integrated learning, innovation, data-driven policy development, and multidisciplinary partnerships to improve the quality of healthcare delivery in Pakistan. Participants from universities, research bodies, and professional organizations shared their experiences and showcased progressive initiatives.

The concluding ceremony reaffirmed the collective resolve of participating institutions to further enhance cooperation, promote research excellence, and nurture health-sector entrepreneurship for a better and more resilient healthcare system. The event ended with a vibrant cultural segment, reflecting Pakistan’s rich heritage and offering delegates a memorable experience.
