68th Martyrdom Anniversary of Maj. Tufail Observed Today

Rawalpindi (GNP): Pakistan is marking the 68th martyrdom anniversary of Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, recipient of the Nishan-e-Haider,.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces; Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of Naval Staff; Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of Air Staff; and the Armed Forces of Pakistan joined in honoring the occasion, paying tribute to the major’s exceptional bravery, unwavering sense of duty, and ultimate sacrifice in defense of the country.

Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed showed remarkable courage and resolve while leading his troops in a bold assault against enemy positions.

Although critically wounded during the battle, he continued fighting with unshakable determination, ensuring his mission was completed successfully.


His outstanding bravery and sacrifice earned him the Nishan-e-Haider — Pakistan’s highest military honor and the ultimate recognition of valor.

On this occasion, the nation and its Armed Forces paid tribute not only to Major Tufail but to all martyrs who have given their lives defending the country, noting that their courage and patriotism continue to inspire future generations and serve as a model for those who defend the nation.

President Asif Ali Zardari also honored Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed on his 68th martyrdom anniversary, recognizing his unmatched bravery and ultimate sacrifice for the homeland.

In his message, the President said the major secured a lasting place in the country’s defense history by giving his life while pushing back enemy occupation in the Lakshmipur sector, adding that his sacrifice would remain a lasting source of national pride and inspiration for generations to come.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif similarly paid tribute to the fallen officer, saying in a statement that Major Tufail’s sacrifice carved out an enduring chapter in the country’s defense history.

He described the major’s courage and sacrifice as a source of pride for the entire nation and a lasting example for future generations, adding that the nation will never forget the sacrifices made by its martyrs.
