Iran Ready for a Firm Response to Any Aggression, Amb Reza

Islamabad : Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, has said that while Tehran does not seek conflict, it is fully prepared to respond decisively to any aggression imposed upon it.

The ambassador made these remarks while briefing journalists at the Iranian Embassy in Islamabad on recent developments in Iran and the wider region.

He stressed that Iran’s leadership, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, remains committed to dialogue and diplomacy as the preferred path to resolving disputes. However, he said Iran reserves the right to defend itself against external threats, conspiracies, or hostile actions.

Ambassador Moghadam appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to help ease tensions between Iran and the United States, noting that the success of such initiatives ultimately depends on the conduct of the other party. He expressed gratitude to the Pakistani government, public, and media for their support during what he described as a challenging period for Iran.

He said Iran and Pakistan are in regular contact and are closely coordinating on regional developments, reflecting strong bilateral cooperation.

Addressing questions about recent protests in Iran, the ambassador said the government recognizes the public’s right to peaceful protest. He added that the Supreme Leader had directed authorities to engage with protesters and address their concerns, noting that representatives of the protesting groups were invited to cabinet-level discussions to present their grievances.

According to the envoy, the Iranian government has taken concrete measures to tackle public concerns, including steps to manage inflation and stabilize markets. He said the overall situation in the country has now returned to normal and stability has been restored.

Providing figures related to the unrest, Moghadam said more than 3,100 people, including members of the security forces, lost their lives during the violent protests. He claimed that public and private property, including ambulances, buses, banks, government buildings, educational institutions, businesses, and vehicles, were damaged or set ablaze during the unrest.

He further said that those involved in violent activities were supported and financed from abroad, adding that all detainees would be dealt with strictly in accordance with Iranian law.

The ambassador reaffirmed that Iran’s government and people remain united and determined to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
