A cinematic masterpiece meets an iconic cultural stage at Alhamra.
Lahore: Lahore Arts Council Alhamra, through its Film Club initiative, continues to strengthen cinematic literacy and global cultural engagement by screening landmark films that have shaped world cinema. As part of this ongoing effort, Federico Fellini’s iconic 1963 film 8½ was presented at Alhamra, drawing an encouraging response from film students, critics, and cinema enthusiasts.
Regarded as one of the most influential films in the history of world cinema, 8½ reflects the creative struggles of a celebrated filmmaker caught between memory, imagination, dreams, and reality. Moving beyond conventional storytelling, the film offers an intimate exploration of the artist’s inner world, redefining narrative structure and elevating cinema as a medium of deep personal expression. Fellini’s symbolic and surreal cinematic language has inspired generations of filmmakers worldwide.
The screening reaffirmed Alhamra’s role as a cultural bridge between international cinematic heritage and Pakistan’s emerging creative minds. By curating globally acclaimed films, Alhamra Film Club continues to provide meaningful exposure to timeless artistic works while nurturing critical thought and creative dialogue among the youth.
Chairman of the Lahore Arts Council Alhamra, Razi Ahmed, in his brief remarks, stated that Alhamra remains committed to presenting world-class art and cinema that broaden intellectual horizons and strengthen Pakistan’s cultural presence on the global stage.
Executive Director Alhamra Muhammad Nawaz Gondal said that cinema is a powerful medium of thought and expression, and Alhamra will continue to offer platforms where students and audiences can engage with films that have shaped the language of world cinema.
The screening of 8½ stands as another significant step in Alhamra’s sustained mission to promote artistic excellence, cultural understanding, and meaningful cinematic engagement in Pakistan.
