The spokesperson stated that this step is necessary to complete the appointment process of the Leader of the Opposition in accordance with the prescribed legal and procedural requirements.

The spokesperson further informed that the Secretariat was earlier notified by the opposition that no case was pending against Omar Ayub Khan; however, the required written verification in this regard has not been provided to the Secretariat. The letter requests Malik Muhammad Aamir Dogar to urgently provide the necessary information regarding the current status of any ongoing or past court cases related to the former Opposition Leader. According to the spokesperson, the National Assembly Secretariat has been made a party in certain cases concerning Omar Ayub Khan, due to which awareness of the latest legal situation holds significant importance.

The spokesperson made it clear that the process for the appointment of the Leader of the Opposition can only proceed once the written verification is received. The letter further requests the Opposition Chief Whip to immediately submit the required documents to ensure the timely completion of the nomination process.
