
Parliamentary delegation of AJK Legislative Assembly led by Ch. Latif Akbar calls on NA Speaker
Islamabad : Speaker National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq met with Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Ch. Latif Akbar, who was accompanied by a parliamentary delegation. The delegation included former Prime Minister of AJK Raja Farooq Haider Khan, Hafiz Ahmad Raza Qadri, Hamid Raza, and Dewan Ali Chughtai.
During the meeting, both sides strongly condemned Indian water aggression and the grave human rights violations being committed in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq reiterated that as Custodian of the House, he ensured the issuance of production orders of MNAs without discrimination. He underlined that resolving the issues of parliamentarians is his foremost priority.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq emphasized that the Parliament of Pakistan has always forcefully highlighted the Kashmir issue at all regional and international forums. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property caused by recent torrential rains in Azad Kashmir and said that the people of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir share the same heartbeat. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continue raising the Kashmir issue on every international platform. He further condemned the unilateral and illegal actions of the Indian government on 5 August 2019, stressing that India can not suppress the freedom struggle of the Kashmiri people through force.
Speaker AJK Legislative Assembly, Ch. Latif Akbar, highlighted that due to climate change, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir are among the most affected regions, with a looming threat of flash flooding caused by melting glaciers. He expressed solidarity with the flood-affected people of Punjab, adding that the hardships of the people in this testing time can well be felt.He appreciated Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq’s efforts to promote parliamentary diplomacy and underscored the vast potential for tourism in Azad Kashmir. He also said that Pakistan’s great victory in Marq-e-Haq was a testament to both military and diplomatic success. He further appreciated the role of the Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in strengthening cooperation among legislative institutions of the country.Ch. Latif Akbar stressed that Members of Parliament from both Pakistan and Azad Kashmir must jointly struggle to raise the Kashmir cause at the global level. He reiterated that durable peace in the region is not possible without resolving the Kashmir dispute and called for accelerating efforts to highlight the issue internationally.He termed the unwavering support of the Government and people of Pakistan for the cause of Kashmir as truly commendable.
