
Avaza : Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) to Turkmenistan with Residence in Islamabad, was called on Rashid Meredov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The meeting took place in Awaza, Turkmenistan on the margins of the 3rd United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (UNLLDC3).
The two sides discussed matters of mutual interest and explored various avenues for strengthening their bilateral and multilateral cooperation in multiple domains such as business, trade, investment, agriculture, aviation, technology and culture.
The Ambassador, on the occasion, briefed the Honorable Minister about the peaceful and diplomatic pursuits of the FDR Ethiopia for access to sea which is an existential necessity for its more than 130 million populations.
He said the demand of Ethiopia for access to sea is absolutely in accordance with the aspiration of the Ethiopian nation, and the international laws.
The Ambassador said Ethiopia’s access to sea would not only propel economic growth in the region but also strengthen regional integration by ensuring peace and prosperity.
The Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan underscored the importance of access to sea for the landlocked countries for equitable and sustainable development across regions.
The Minister lauded the economic progress achieved by Ethiopia as well as its critical role for strengthening regional integration.
He assured the Ambassador of his full support in strengthening the bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries.
