PMYP launches AI Training program with Stanford University

Islamabad:— In a landmark initiative to advance Pakistan’s position in the global technology landscape, the Government of Pakistan, through the National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), has launched a cutting-edge certification program in Artificial Intelligence and engineering product development. The initiative is being implemented in partnership with Obsidian Technologies and wAI Advanced Industries.
Titled the AI-Driven Enterprise Product Online Training and Development Program, the fully-funded government initiative aims to empower PhD and post-doctoral scholars in STEM fields across Pakistan. The program is designed to bridge the gap between academic research and market-oriented innovation, fostering a new generation of AI-driven entrepreneurs and innovators.
A central component of the program is a three-month online course — Innovation-Driven Product Development Using AI — taught by faculty from Stanford University and delivered through the Stanford Engineering Center for Global and Online Education (CGOE). The course will equip participants with tools and frameworks to generate and evaluate innovative ideas, align technical solutions with business and market demands, and lead product innovation within their organizations.
This groundbreaking collaboration is spearheaded by the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) and sponsored by NAVTTC. The Stanford-led academic content will be complemented by expert-led teaching sessions, peer learning opportunities, and mentoring from Pakistani industry leaders, coordinated by Obsidian Technologies and wAI Advanced Industries.
The initiative supports the Prime Minister’s vision of transforming Pakistan into a global hub of information technology and artificial intelligence. It also marks the first time that a government-backed program in Pakistan is targeting MPhil and PhD scholars for specialized training at such a prestigious international level.
A PMYP spokesperson emphasized, “This initiative is a crucial step toward positioning Pakistan as a competitive player in the global AI economy. It reflects our commitment to developing a world-class digital workforce that meets both domestic and international market needs.”
Participants will receive comprehensive training not only in AI-based product development but also in entrepreneurship and the creation of Minimum Viable Products (MVPs), equipping them to translate ideas into real-world applications and scalable businesses.
By cultivating high-level AI talent, this initiative seeks to establish a sustainable pipeline of skilled professionals ready to contribute to global innovation ecosystems. The collaboration between NAVTTC, Obsidian Technologies, and wAI Advanced Industries is a major milestone in Pakistan’s journey toward digital transformation and technological self-reliance.
