
Visit of Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis Participates in Commemoration Event of 30th Anniversary of Srebrenica Genocide
Bosnia : “International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica”, as designated by the United Nations, and the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of the Srebrenica Genocide, Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis, Aun Chaudhry attended the Commemoration Event for the 30th Anniversary of the Srebrenica Genocide in Potočari, Bosnia & Herzegovina, on behalf of Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
At the event, the Minister of State conveyed the solidarity, respect and prayers of the Prime Minister and people of Pakistan for the people of Bosnia & Herzegovina to Member of Bosnia & Herzegovina Presidency, Dr. Denis Bećirović, as well as to Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers/Minister for Defence, Zukan Helez, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Elmedin Konaković, and Reis-ul-Ulema of Bosnia & Herzegovina, His Eminence, Dr. Husein Effendi Kavazović, among others.
The Minister of State also handed over a letter from the Prime Minister of Pakistan addressed to the Bosnian leadership on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of the Srebrenica Genocide which was read out during the ceremony.

During his interactions, the Minister of State noted that during the Bosnian War, Pakistan provided all political, diplomatic and moral support to the people of Bosnia & Herzegovina, in line with the UN Charter and the special bonds of love and respect that exist between the people of the two countries. During the War, 3000 Pakistani troops were posted in Tuzla as part of UN Peacekeeping Forces and they were among the first responders to the survivors of Srebrenica.
The Minister of State also emphasized that Pakistan has always been a staunch advocate for respect of international law and human rights, and continues to stand against the politics of denial and impunity, whether it is in Srebrenica, Palestine or Jammu & Kashmir.
He further reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to protect the right of everyone to live in peace, dignity and freedom, as well as to support all international causes that are based on justice, fairness and mutual respect.
