Islamabad, —: Vice President of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Senator Sherry Rehman, has strongly condemned the recent Israeli airstrikes on Iran, calling them a “clear violation of international law” and a “dangerous provocation with potential global repercussions.”
Senator Rehman said, “Israel’s illegal aggression against Iran is not just a regional issue—it is a direct assault on the principles of international justice and the UN Charter. Bombing civilians and children is not only morally indefensible but also a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.”
Warning that the conflict in the Middle East could spiral into a broader crisis, Senator Rehman emphasized the urgent need for restraint: “The ongoing tensions in the region threaten to engulf the entire world. The global community cannot afford to be a silent bystander. It must move swiftly to support de-escalation and facilitate meaningful diplomacy.”
She further added, “The priority must be peace. Both sides must be urged to stand down before this conflict leads to irreversible consequences.”
Senator Rehman called on the United Nations Security Council to take immediate and effective action to prevent further escalation: “Now is the time for responsible international leadership. The Security Council must intervene decisively to uphold peace and stability.”
Offering condolences to the families of those killed, she said, “We pray for the souls of the Iranian military personnel martyred in this attack and extend our heartfelt sympathies to the Iranian people during this time of grief.”
Senator Rehman reiterated Pakistan’s longstanding position in favor of regional peace and non-aggression: “We believe in the power of diplomacy, dialogue, and adherence to international law. War is not a solution—it only deepens suffering.”
