
Islamabad : NDMA’s National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) has issued a weather advisory in light of a weather system expected to affect various parts of the country for next 12 to 24 hours. The system is likely to bring widespread rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms, with isolated incidents of hailstorms are expected in the northeastern and southern parts of the Punjab, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Gujrat, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Narowal, Wazirabad, Hafizabad, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Mianwali, Jhang, Sahiwal, Layyah, Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, and surrounding areas over the next 12 to 24 hours. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rain, windstorms, thunderstorms, and isolated hailstorms are expected in different parts of the province including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Battagram, Kohistan, Kohat, Kurram, Orakzai, Bannu, Mardan, Peshawar, Swabi, Charsadda, Nowshera, Dera Ismail Khan, Bajaur, Mohmand, and surrounding areas over the next 12 to 24 hours.
NEOC anticipated that rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms are also expected in various parts of Sindh, including Mirpurkhas Division (Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, and Tharparkar), Hyderabad Division (Hyderabad, Mithi, Tando Allahyar, and Tando Muhammad Khan), Sukkur Division (Sukkur and Khairpur), Larkana Division (Larkana, Jacobabad, and Kashmore), as well as Sanghar and surrounding areas over the next 24 to 48 hours, with occasional gaps.
Heavy rainfall and powerful winds may lead to the uprooting of weak trees, while windstorm, hailstorm could impact fragile structures, rooftop, vehicles and solar panels.
NDMA advises the public to remain cautious during the forecast period and avoid unnecessary travel, especially in areas vulnerable to flash flooding, landslides, or strong windstorms. Farmers are also advised to take precautionary measures to protect crops from hailstorms and rain.
NDMA, through its NEOC, continues to monitor the situation in real-time and is coordinating with provincial and district disaster management bodies to ensure prompt response and public safety. NDMA urges the public to use “Pak NDMA Disaster Alert App” to stay updated about weather updates before traveling.
