Xiaomi to Replace President

According to a recent announcement from Xiaomi, the president of the company, Wang Xiang will be stepping down from his position and William Lu will be succeeding him as the new president.

Beijing, 31 December 2022 (GNP): Chinese mobile manufacturer Xiaomi’s president, Wang Xiang, will be stepping down from his position as he has announced to retire, while William Lu, who is the Senior Vice President of a Chinese consumer electrics company, will be the new president according to reports.

The founder and chairman of the company, Lei Jun, wrote in a formal letter placing Wang Xiang, the now ex-president, a senior consultant in the company after his retirement. He will step down by the end of this month.

The founder, Lei Jun, wrote in his internal letter: “Xiaomi achieved a smooth handover of the baton iteration. Our company is currently facing many difficulties but will further improve operational efficiency.”

He further wrote on the change of president, stating: “William and I have known each other for many years and have quite a lot of experience in the mobile phone industry and considerable industry influence. Since joining Xiaomi in early 2019, William has gained recognition and respect from the group management. He served as the head of the Redmi brand and the president of Xiaomi China, and then led the three major business divisions of Xiaomi China, International Department and Xiaomi India.”

Lei Jun said in the internal letter that Xiaomi management is prepared for sustainable development in the future.
