Beijing , 17 May 2024, (GNP): Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian leader Vladimir Putin have vowed to initiate a ‘new era’ to counter the influence and efforts of the US.
Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to stand together against their Western adversary, solidifying their “unrestricted” partnership. This declaration came during Russian President Putin’s visit to Beijing.
On Thursday, Xi celebrated China-Russia friendship by marching of PLA soldiers outside the Great Hall of the People in Beijing and gave a 21-gun salute on Tiananmen Square.
The Chinese and Russian leaders endorsed a joint statement heralding the “new era,” expressing their resistance to the US on various security matters.
During their significant meeting, both leaders shared perspectives on topics ranging from Taiwan and Ukraine to North Korea, as well as collaborating on new peaceful nuclear technologies and financial matters.

“The China-Russia relationship today is hard-earned, and the two sides need to cherish and nurture it,” Xi told Putin.
“China is willing to … jointly achieve the development and rejuvenation of our respective countries, and work together to uphold fairness and justice in the world.”
Russia, engaged in conflict with NATO-backed Ukrainian forces, and China, facing intensified pressure from a coordinated US campaign to counter its expanding military and economic influence, have increasingly aligned geopolitically.
Xi has conveyed to Putin that they possess the opportunity to instigate unprecedented global transformations, interpreted by many analysts as an endeavor to contest the US-led international order.
