World Bank approved funds for Sindh

The World Bank would initiate projects with the help of the Sindh government to rehabilitate people and infrastructure of housing, crops, and mother’s and children's health.

Karachi, 21 December 2022 (GNP): The World Bank approved 1.682 billion dollars for Sindh and launched five projects to support the people of Sindh. The officials of Sindh confirmed the support of the World Bank regarding flood destruction in its Province. The destruction was catastrophic, and millions of people were homeless,  and 1770 people died because of heavy flooding in the Province of Pakistan, Sindh. 

The World Bank would initiate projects with the help of the Sindh government to rehabilitate people and infrastructure of housing, crops, and mother’s and children’s health. Flood water is still over there and cultivation of crops will be impossible due to the lack of resources.

First and foremost, the World Bank will invest in infrastructure and housing to help people on an immediate basis. 

The fertility of land is infertile because water and crops will not give desired results. So, the Bank will take the burden of uplifting the agriculture sector in the province and continue its support until the restructuring of Pakistan. 

Millions of people were homeless due to heavy monsoon rainfall and slept hopeless and helpless. Banks will provide subsidized house loans to build their own houses on a priority basis for flooded areas.

Mothers’ and children’s health is a fundamental right of people and issues in flooded areas. There are no health facilities for mothers and children at all and viral diseases are spreading across the province. The bank will provide assistance to the health and social sector in Sindh. 

Last but not least, the World Bank will continue its support to Sindh until the recovery and rehabilitation of the Pakistani people.
