Lahore, 2 April 2023 (GNP): Imad Wasim, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shan Masood are most likely to replace Shadab Khan as Vice-Captain in the upcoming home series against New Zealand.
Shaheen, the captain of the Lahore Qalandars, is the favourite among the three to succeed Babar in the limited-overs tournament.
Under the left-arm pacer’s direction, Qalandars have won back-to-back PSL championships.
Babar will resume his duties as captain in the T20I and ODI series against New Zealand after being rested for the Afghanistan series, according to sources.
The T20I and ODI squads will be chosen by the selection committee at a meeting that will be scheduled for the following week after consulting with Babar. The meeting is anticipated on April 4, and the squad will be revealed that same day.

Sources claim that senior Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials opted to rest skipper Shadab Khan for the series against New Zealand because they were unhappy with his choices in the Afghanistan series.
In place of Shadab as the team’s leg-spinner against the Kiwis, Usama Mir is probably going to get a shot.
It’s anticipated that Mohammad Rizwan would continue serving as the Test team’s vice-captain.
Najam Sethi, the chairman of the PCB management committee, will make the final choice about the selection of the vice-captain for the limited-overs team. Once the PCB chief has given his approval, a formal announcement will be issued.
Before moving on to Rawalpindi, where the final two T20Is and the first ODI will be played from April 20–26, the New Zealand team will arrive in Lahore and play three T20Is from April 14–17. The four One-Day Internationals will be played from April 30 to May 7 in Karachi, where the tour will conclude.
