VC of GCU dies in a road accident

Prof. Dr. Shahid Kamal, Vice Chancellor (VC) of Government College University (GCU), Faisalabad, passed away on Monday in a car accident.

Faisalabad, 13 March 2023 (GNP): On Monday, an automobile accident claimed the life of Prof. Dr. Shahid Kamal, the Vice Chancellor (VC) of Government College University (GCU), Faisalabad.

According to rescue reports, he was travelling from Lahore to Faisalabad when his automobile was involved in an accident close to Sahianwala.

He started working as the VC at GCU Faisalabad on July 24, 2019.

Prof. Dr. Shahid Kamal is well-known throughout the world for his work in statistics. From Exeter University in Devon, Great Britain, he received his PhD in applied biostatistics (UK).

For more than 30 years, he had been a teacher, researcher, and manager.

He served as a professor, director, and dean at the University of Punjab in Lahore.

He established a lot of institutions and centres, including the Statistical Databank and the Operation Research Centre.

He wrote two books and many research articles that were published in famous national and international journals.

Many PhD and Mphil research students were under Prof. Dr. Shahid Kamal’s supervision.
