US to ban trade with 30 Chinese companies

Companies, including chipmaker Yangtze Memory Technologies, will be transferred to the US Entity List.

Washington, D.C., 14 December 2022 (GNP): Biden administration decides to put 30 Chinese technological companies on the trade blacklist. This sanction would hinder the Chinese companies from purchasing certain tools and components from American companies.

The US Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), in collaboration with the US Commerce Department, will include 30 Chinese companies to the Entity list to ban any trade with them.

The proposed entity list would forbid trading with any organization that is considered a potential threat to the US national security unless they are granted special permission by the US Commerce Department for this.

The most prominent among them is the Yangtze Technological Companies, blamed for providing microchips to Huawei, blacked listed by the US government last October along with five other Chinese technological companies.

As confirmed by US officials anonymously, such a move by the Biden administration would already heighten the tense relations between the two economic superpowers creating more rifts not only in their bilateral relations but also in the world economy as well.
