Syria sees spike in Covid-19 cases as fears grow of new wave

Syria is facing a new surge a new infection in Covid-19 infections in both government held areas and territory outside state control that could overwhelm the war ravaged country’s fragile health system, said official sources.

Government’s health officials have said that new cases have been emerged in the last 24 hours, they felt fear of the new wave of Pandemic in the country. Syria was hard hit by the Covid-19 last year during two major spikes in infections in August and December, health officials added.

The latest spike has come from the delta variant blamed on surge of visitors in summer, they said. Health workers say that the country has administered only, 4, 40000 doses of covid-19 vaccines so far.

18 million of people would have to pass from the same process. Figures say that 31000, people have been infected from the Covid-19 and more than 2000, corona related infected persons have passed away.

The number of beds in the hospitals is less and the authorities are thinking what to do with those new cases of Covid-19, health official added. Local officials have announced to close the schools in the affected areas.
