Islamabad, 20 February 2023 (GNP): On Monday, Dr. Luay Shabaneh, a representative of the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) in Pakistan, met the Federal Minister for Human Rights Mian Riaz, Hussain Pirzada.

The meeting took place to discuss critical issues related to women’s rights, child abuse, gender violence, and protecting the rights of disabled persons.

Federal Minister Mian Riaz Hussain said that Pakistan would cooperate with UNFPA to make sure that these critical issues must be resolved, which is causing hindrance in the growth of our country. He further added that the increase in population is another major problem that shows poor population planning. Due to a lack of resources and a low literacy rate in rural areas, women are highly susceptible to violence and child marriages.
