Ukraine rejects alleged drone attack on Moscow

A drone has crashed in the Moscow region in what was likely an attempt to target civilian infrastructure, the regional governor said.

Moscow, 28 February 2023 (GNP):  On Tuesday, after an oil depot caught fire and authorities abruptly closed the airspace above the second-largest city in the nation, Russia’s Defense Ministry accused Ukraine of conducting a series of attempted drone strikes against infrastructure in Russia, close to the Capital.

Andrei Vorobyov from the Defense Ministry stated that two Ukrainian drones had been shot down in Southern Russia.

According to a Telegram post by Andrei Vorobyov, the drone’s objective in Kolomna “was likely a civilian infrastructure site, which was not destroyed.”

“There are no casualties and damage on the ground. The FSB (Russian security service) and other authorities are looking into the matter” he added.

Pictures shown by Russian media and government sources depict a damaged drone in a snow-covered area in front of a birch tree woodland.

The crashed device appeared to resemble a Ukrainian-made UJ-22 attack drone.

The ministry accused Ukraine of attempting to use drones to attack civilian infrastructure, but Ukraine has not confirmed this.
