Riyadh, 2 October 2021(TDI/GNP): The Uganda-Saudi Arabia Virtual Coffee Expo was held at the Embassy of Uganda in Riyadh on Wednesday, with the goal of enhancing current economic and diplomatic initiatives between the two countries.

General Jeje Odongo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uganda said, In the year 2020, Uganda exported just $419,300 worth of coffee and coffee husks to Saudi Arabia. This situation can further improve, as Saudi Arabia explores Uganda’s markets more.

Furthermore, During the period 2021-2027, the market is expected to increase at a compound annual growth rate of 6.2 percent. It is a great opportunity for businessmen.

This expo promotes the goals of expanding on their already established historical ties, Uganda’s Minister added.

Uganda’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Isaac Ssebulime stated that this was the first time that Saudi Arabian and Ugandan businessmen have gathered to discuss methods to boost trade between the two nations.

Despite their shared membership in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, trade between the two countries has more potential to grow. This expo is the first step toward the direction. Coffee plays a key role in this effort, according to Ssebulime.
