Spain, (GNP): The Southeastern areas of Spain were hit by torrential rain on October 29, bringing along months of precipitation.
According to Spanish authorities, cities particularly Valencia, Castilla-La Mancha, and Andalusia received severe damage to infrastructure.
Spain’s government said at least 95 people died of floods, and the toll continues to rise, adding that dozens are missing.
The Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez assured that search and rescue operations are underway for the flood affecters, adding that authorities are vigilant in the face of this threat.
Moreover, PM Sanchez urged citizens to remain active as the danger remains, and three days of mourning were declared in the European nation, which suffered its deadliest disaster in more than 50 years.
While addressing the issue, the Premier said, “We will help you as long as it takes; all of Spain is with you.”
Spain’s Defense Minister Margarita Robles confirmed that more than 1,000 troops along with helicopters were being deployed in affected areas to counter this “unprecedented phenomenon.”

Spain’s Meteorological Agency (AEMET) reported that about 300 millimeters of rain fell on Tuesday, causing catastrophic floods in Valencia city.
Moreover, the meteorological agency warned that heavy rainfall will continue till the end of the week.
The international community reacted to the deadliest flood disaster, calling the Western nations for serious actions against climate change.
UN secretary general Antonio Guterres said “My deep condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives as a result of devastating rain and flooding, adding that we stand in full solidarity with the flood victims”.
