Taliban Governor for Balkh killed in suicide attack

Explosions occurred on the second floor of the Governor's office, killing Daud Muzammil along with two others

Kabul, 9 March 2023 (GNP): According to the sources, a senior Afghan Taliban Commander, Daud Muzammil, who served as the governor of Balkh province, has been assassinated in a bomb attack in Mazar Sharif city.
According to the Police spokesperson Asif Waziri, the explosions occurred on the second floor of the governor’s office, as a result of which Daud Muzammil and two other civilians were killed.

However, the investigation into the nature of the explosion is underway but according to the latest reports the suicide bomber detonated explosives in the Governor house.

The killing of the Taliban Commander came after the day he met with the high official of the Taliban in Kabul yesterday.
It has been the second explosion in the last four months, in which a senior Taliban official has been killed.
Although, no organization has accepted responsibility for the attack.

However, after the Taliban rule in Afghanistan ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) emerged as a key rival.
The assassination of Daud Muzammil in his office in Mazar city has resulted in him becoming one of the most senior figures to have been killed since the Taliban regained power in 2021.
