Saudi Arabia removes COVID limitations on Turkish Umrah Pilgrims

These restrictions were imposed by the Saudi government in the wake of COVID pandemic.

Riyadh, 12 December 2022 (GNP): In a joint press conference with the Turkish Minister for Religious Affairs, Dr. Ali Erbas, the Saudi Arabia Minister for Religion, Dr. Tawfig Al Rabiah, announced that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is removing the COVID-19 restrictions on the Umrah visitors of Turkiye.

These restrictions were imposed by the Saudi government in the wake of the COVID pandemic, which included the age restriction on Umrah visitors and vaccination for the COVID-19 pandemic.

The move was taken to facilitate the Umrah visitors coming to the Kingdom with the aim of Vision -2030 to increase the number of Hajj and Umrah visitors coming to the Kingdom.

Dr. Al- Rabiah also pointed out that the online platform Nusuk launched last September will further facilitate pilgrims in getting their visas, reservation of accommodations, and resolving their other Umrah and Hajj-related issues in a speedy way.

The Kingdom, its government, and its people would welcome all visitors of Hajj and Umrah around the World, removing the number of visits limits to the holy places of Makkah and Madina.

The Saudi government will also make it possible to do Umrah on all types of visas, further facilitating Umrah visitors.

Meanwhile, the Turkish Minister for Religious Affairs stressed the need to facilitate the new generation about Islamic training and knowledge and show them the practicality of Islam in fields of life.

He said that the two brotherly countries of Turkiye and Saudi Arabia would have a strong and positive and impact with their joint projects of imparting Islamic knowledge to Muslim youth.

Earlier, Dr. Al-Rabiah deeply expressed his warmth and gratitude to the Turkish people and government for their love and respect given to him and his delegation.

He said that brotherly ties between Saudi Arabia and Turkiye would be further strengthened under the leadership of King Salman, Crown Prince Muhammed bin Salman and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
