Saraiki province conference on Sept 5th

The envoys from the districts of Saraiki belt will take part in the conference.

Islamabad, 4 Sep, 2023 (GNP): A convention on Saraiki Province will be held in the capital city on 5th September, Tuesday. The prime idea of this conference is to spread awareness about the bill of South Punjab province that was submitted to the upper house of the parliament.

The Senator of PML-N Rana Mahmoodul Hasan, who proposed the constitutional bill in the Senate for the creation of the South Punjab province, will direct the event.

The envoys from the districts of Saraiki belt will take part in the event. The Saraiki folk music and traditional dance called jhumar will be presented on the occasion to showcase the vibrant culture of this specific region of Pakistan.

The lawmaker of PML-N had proffered the bill in Senate on 17 January, 2022 for establishing South Punjab as a separate province. The bill got support from the PTI and PPP as well.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Law and Justice, barrister Syed Ali Zafar, in July 2023, noted that there were numerous crucial justifications for the foundation of South Punjab and Hazara region provinces in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Moreover, barrister Zafar asserted, “The creation of the provinces would address the economic and political marginalization of the poor minorities, who are living there.”

“At the same time as the number of smaller provinces increases, the federation will become stronger,” he added.

Additionally, Zafar mentioned that while contemplating the formation of the two new provinces, it shall not be based on linguistic as well as ethnic grounds only but must be built on executive lines and population.
