Kazan, 3 May 2023, (GNP): On May 18-20, 2023 in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan at the International Exhibition Center Kazan Expo will be held the XIV International Economic Forum "Russia – the Islamic world: Kazan Forum 2023.
Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum is the main platform for business cooperation
between Russia and the Islamic world. The purpose of the forum is to strengthen trade and
economic, scientific and technical, educational, social, and cultural ties between the regions of
the Russian Federation and the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which
includes 57 states.
In 2022, KazanForum brought together more than 6000 representatives of international
organizations, government authorities, financial institutions, members of parliaments, leading
investors and businessmen, top managers of Russia n and foreign companies from 64
countries, as well as 35 diplomatic missions of foreign states.
KazanForum-2023 will include about two hundred events, including more than 140
thematic sessions. The program of expert discussions includes Islamic finance and halal
industry, international cooperation, logistics, industry, sustainable development and ESG, IT technology, innovation and investment, youth entrepreneurship, small and medium business, women perspective, education, medicine, sports, and much more. For each thematic track, there will be from 3 to 10 sessions.

One of the key themes is the development of Islamic financing mechanisms in
Russia. For instance, as the result of expert discussions at KazanForum 2022, Ak Bars Bank
presented the first-ever Islamic debit card based on the «Mir» payment system, and Sber opened in the capital of Tatarstan the first office of partner Islamic finance with the possibility of obtaining an Islamic mortgage.
Based on the experience, the participants of the forum-2023 will discuss the possibility of
expanding the pilot project to other regions, as well as the transition to a unified system of
accreditation of Halal certification bodies in Russia.
On the example of Tatarstan, we seek to establish the practical mechanisms of
interaction with Islamic business. Great prospects are opening up in the development of the
Islamic economy. In particular, the industries of halal food, halal tourism, and halal medicine are developing, noted the Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
KazanForum-2023 experts will also pay special attention to the development of
international transport and logistics corridors as a key condition for effective economic
relations between Russia and the Islamic countries.
An extended media session on Russia-Islamic World: Media Cooperation for
Sustainable Development and Economic Prosperity, will be held for media representatives. It will be attended by heads of national news agencies of the OIC countries and Russia, heads of major broadcasting corporations. The speakers will discuss the role and opportunities of the media industry of the OIC countries and Russia in solving the problems of sustainable development in the world, as well as the history and prospects of information partnership.
The forum will also include such conferences, as: Russia – Turkey, Russia –
Indonesia, Russia – Egypt, Russia – Azerbaijan, Russia – Uzbekistan, Russia –
Malaysia and Russia – Iran.

For entrepreneurs both from Russia and the countries of the Islamic world, KazanForum-
2023 is an opportunity to find new trade, financial and technological partners, as well as to enter new markets and attract investments. Particularly, the forum can offer: the business exhibition Russia Halal Expo with the presentation of halal products and services, as well as investment and infrastructure projects in the Kazan Expo, the fair Russia Halal Market with trade pavilions in Agroprompark, the culinary show by chefs of the Islamic countries. Guests will dive into the diverse world of the halal industry, while experts will share their experience of successful work in this area.
On May 20, there will be held the fifth anniversary season of the Modest Fashion Day
within KazanForum-2023. Every year the show of Russian and foreign popular brands proves the existing potential of the modest fashion industry and facilitates finding new customers abroad.
On May 20 and 21, 2023, there will be a cultural part of the program for guests of the
forum: a sightseeing tour to Sviyazhsk island on the objects of the world heritage of UNESCO and an excursion to the ancient city of Bolgar for the traditional celebration of Izge Bolgar zhyeny – the official day of the adoption of Islam in the Volga Bulgaria, on the territory of the modern Republic of Tatarstan.
Every year, guests and participants of KazanForum note the rich business and cultural
program, and productive meetings, as well as highly appreciated the level and the increasing
scale of the international event. In 2022, the KazanForum became the winner of the XI National Award in the field of event tourism Russian Event Awards – won the Grand Prix in the category Best MICE event – which confirms the recognition of the high level of the forum by the top organizers of business and cultural events in Russia.
It is planned that there is going to be a function press center, organized press
approaches, as well as interviews with federal and international media at KazanForum-2023. Around a thousand volunteers will help the participants and guests.
