Return of Pakistani students to China discussed between China-Pakistan

Beijing, 8 December 2021 (GNP/ TDI): Pakistani Ambassador to China Moin-ul-Haque met with the Chinese Foreign Ministry Director-General of the Asian Affairs Liu Jinsong.

The meeting of the Pakistani Ambassador with the Chinese Foreign Ministry Director-General of Asian affairs will help to strengthen the cooperation between the two sides. The two countries already enjoy close relations and are coordinating in regional as well as international issues.

They met on 7 December 2021 at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing. In the meeting, they discussed the bilateral relations of the two states. They highlighted the ironclad friendship between the two neighboring states.

Pakistani Ambassador raised the point of the return of Pakistani students to China

The Pakistani ambassador pointed out the issue of the return of the Pakistani students to China. He stressed that Pakistani students are not benefitting from the online classes. Note that hundreds of Pakistani students are not able to return to China due to the Chinese restrictions on traveling. Pakistani students are enrolled in the Chinese institutes in different exchange programs and in scholarship programs.

Liu Jinsong stated that the return of Pakistani students to China depends upon the evolving Coronavirus condition. However, the Chinese government will try its best to make efforts for the return of the Pakistani students to China, he added.

Discussion on bilateral cooperations and CPEC

They talked about enhancing bilateral cooperations such as in the field of trade. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was also discussed in their meeting. They highlighted the importance of the CPEC for the region especially for the growth and development of the Pakistani economy.

The bilateral meeting also put emphasis on the investment opportunities in the two countries. Pakistani Ambassador Moin-ul-Haque reassured to provide a comfortable and safe environment to the Chinese companies for investing in Pakistan.

They also debated on the recent developments in Afghanistan. They discussed the close collaboration of China and Pakistan in Afghanistan’s situation. The two countries are committed to assisting the Afghan people in the humanitarian crisis.
