Rawalpindi, 8 Match 2023 (GNP): Jason Roy’s heroics at the Pindi Club Field in Rawalpindi help Quetta Gladiators pull off a surprising victory over Peshawar Zalmi in a high-scoring contest on Wednesday night.
Quetta Gladiators broke records by chasing target of 241 in Rawalpindi, which is now the highest successful chase in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) history. They surpassed Multan Sultan’s 207 Versus Qalandars in previous year. It is also the fourth successful highest chase in T20I history and first highest in Asia.
After winning the toss on a batter friendly pitch, Peshawar Zalmi decided to bat first.

Saim Ayub (74) and Babar Azam (115) led Peshawar to a maximum total of 240/2. The huge total nearly guaranteed a victory, but Jason Roy had other ideas. He began hitting the ball really hard from the get-go and helped Quetta chase impossible looking target.
Gladiators scored 88-1 during the power play. It ranks second among all PSL teams in terms of powerplays, just after United’s 97-0 versus Gladiators in 2021.
Jason Roy destroyed the Zalmi bowlers to smash a 63-ball 145 and lead Quetta comfortably beyond the finish line. Will Smeed (26) and Mohammed Hafeez (41) provided him with strong support. Quetta overcame the Babar-led team by eight wickets after completing the run chase in 18.2 overs thanks to Roy’s undefeated century.
Jason Roy now holds the record of second fastest hundred and highest individual score (145*) in PSL. Moreover, Roy is one of the three batters to have multiple hundreds in PSL.
