Putin calls Ukraine war a fight for Russia’s survival

Russian President Vladimir Putin has defined the conflict with the West over the situation in Ukraine as a crucial struggle for Russia's survival.

Moscow, 27 February 2023 (GNP): Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, has framed the conflict with the West over the conflict in Ukraine as an essential struggle for the survival of Russia and the Russian people. He has also said that he is compelled to consider NATO’s nuclear arsenal.

One year after directing the invasion of Ukraine, Putin is portraying the conflict as a turning point in Russian history and asserting that the country’s and its citizens’ entire futures are in jeopardy.

The Russian Federation and the core of the former Soviet Union were intended to be dismantled, according to Putin in a conversation that was taped on Wednesday but made public on Sunday.

NATO and the West, who assert that their goal is to assist Ukraine in fending off an aggressive invasion, reject such a claim.

Putin claimed the West planned to partition Russia to take control over the largest manufacturer of raw materials worldwide. This move, according to Putin, might cause the death of countless Russian citizens, including all the ethnic Russian population.

The Russian people, as an ethnic group, ” may not be capable of surviving in the shape that it currently exists in,” stated Putin. He said that the West’s intentions had already been written down, but he wasn’t specific about where.

The United States has rejected claims it intends to annihilate Russia, whilst President Joe Biden has cautioned that a battle between Russia and NATO may start World War Three, while also saying that Putin must not stay in power.

Putin claimed that the hundreds of billions of dollars in military aid from the US and Europe to Ukraine showed Russia was currently in conflict with NATO itself, which was the leader of both the Soviet Union and the West’s worst fear during the Cold War.

Ukraine said it won’t stop until every Russian soldier has left its borders, including the Crimean peninsula, which Russia gained in 2014.

The War of Russia

By framing the struggle in existential terms, the 70-year-old head of Russia may prepare the Russian people for a far bloodier conflict while simultaneously giving himself much more flexibility over the kinds of weaponry he might use in the future.

According to Russia’s stated nuclear policy, nuclear weapons may be deployed if they or other WMDs are used against the country or if tactical nuclear weapons are used and “the fundamental survival of the country” is threatened.

Putin has shown that unless the West sets off in Ukraine, he is prepared to destroy the framework for nuclear arms control, including the great countries’ ban on nuclear testing.

He announced the launch of fresh strategic systems for warfare on Tuesday, suspended a historic nuclear weapons control deal, and issued a warning that Moscow might restart nuclear tests to show Russia’s determination in Ukraine.

Putin stated that after considering French and British nuclear weapons, the conversation would restart.

The largest collection of nuclear warheads on the globe is in Russia, which received the nuclear arsenal from the Soviet Union. The Federation of American Scientists estimates it holds more weaponry than the collective arsenals of the United States, France, and Great Britain.

“In today’s conditions, when all the leading NATO countries have declared their main goal as inflicting a strategic defeat on us so that our people suffer, as they say, how can we ignore their nuclear capabilities in these conditions?” stated Putin.

The Russian people’s solidarity, according to Putin, was the greatest accomplishment of the last year.
