Islamabad, 1 October 2021 (GNP/TDI): Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, met Foreign Minister of Denmark, Jeppe Kofod, on 1 October. The meeting marked the discussion of matters of mutual interest, regional and global issues.
Sharing his remarks on the emerging dynamics in Afghanistan, Prime Minister Imran Khan reiterated the need for positive engagement of the international community in Afghanistan. He said this is imperative for averting a humanitarian and economic crisis in Kabul. Also, it is crucial for regional and global peace and security. He further added the formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan is the only way forward.

Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod acclaimed Pakistan’s efforts for ensuring peace in Afghanistan. He especially thanked the government for assisting in the successful evacuation of Danish nationals and other personnel from Kabul.
Both leaders also exchanged views on the issue of climate change. They agreed on the need for constructive efforts of the international community in mitigating the adverse impacts of climate change. Danish Foreign Minister lauded the 10 Billion Tree Tsunami project and other government initiatives for climate change. He also briefed the Prime Minister regarding the proposed Green Partnership Agreement between the two countries.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Imran Khan urged the need for mobilizing international climate finance to support climate actions in developing countries.
Pakistan and Denmark share cordial diplomatic relations based on mutual respect and solidarity. Both leaders pledged to further strengthen and diversify bilateral relations, especially in the domain of trade, investment, and renewable energy.
