Islamabad, 5 January 2023 (GNP): New interim selection committee headed by Shahid Afridi announce the ODI squad for the New Zealand series, which will be played this month in Karachi.
Fakhar Zaman, an opening batsman, returned to the squad after his injury before the T20 World cup 2022, while Haris Sohail, a middle-order batsman, also returned to the team after two years. He played his last ODI match in 2020. Tayyab Tahir, recently performing well in domestic cricket, is also part of the squad. Usama Mir, a leg spinner, also replaces the injured Shadab Khan.

Selection Committee has consulted team management and Captain Babar Azam for selection.
Shahid Afridi said the committee asked management and the captain to give a 16-member choice before announcing a squad. Where improvement is needed, we discuss it with them.
