Lahore, 14 March 2023 (GNP): PCB announced that For the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in Sharjah, Abdul Rehman will serve as Pakistan’s head coach.
Mohammad Yousuf and Abdul Majeed will continue to be the batting and fielding coaches, respectively, while Umar Gul will take over as the bowling coach.
Abdul Rehman is an accomplished coach with experience working at the domestic level. When Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won the National T20 and Pakistan Cup and shared the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy with Central Punjab, he served as the team’s head coach. He has led the Peshawar Panthers to two National T20 victories and assisted the Peshawar Zalmi in their 2017 HBL Pakistan Super League triumph.

Rahman spent the previous four years working as Andy Flower’s assistant coach at Multan Sultans. During Bangladesh’s visit to Multan in November of last year, he served as the Pakistan U-19 coach.
In the most recent ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2022, Afghanistan’s bowling coach was Umar Gul, one of Pakistan’s most renowned T20 bowlers. In 60 T20Is between 2007 and 2016, he picked up 85 wickets at a strike rate of 16.97.
To play Afghanistan in three Twenty20 Internationals in Sharjah on March 24, 26, and 27, Pakistan will fly to the United Arab Emirates on March 22. The two sides are currently meeting for the first time in a bilateral series. Four One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals between Pakistan and Afghanistan have been played, with Pakistan winning each match.
