Addis Ababa, 23 December, 2023 (GNP): Pakistan’s ambassador in Ethiopia, Atif Mian, held a meeting with Lemma Gudeta, Chief Commercial Officer of Ethiopian Airlines, on Thursday.
During the meeting, the officials discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the aviation sector, and the expansion of the airlines’ operations in Pakistan.
Ethiopian Airlines, the largest network of airlines in Africa, started its operations in Pakistan starting from Karachi in May 2023.
It is noteworthy that this is not the first time Ethiopian Airlines has begun operations in Pakistan.
The airline previously operated twice in Pakistan: first from July 1996 to December 1971, and then from June 1993 till July 2004.

During the meeting, the Chief Commercial Officer expressed eagerness to expand the airline’s operations in Pakistan.
As per the airline’s website , Ethiopian Airlines is currently operating four days a week.

Upon the resumption of the airline’s operations in Karachi in May, Mesfin Tasew, CEO of the Ethiopian Airline Group, expressed his excitement, stating, “We are excited to return to Karachi after two decades.”
He further added, “As the most populous city in Pakistan, Karachi will serve as a crucial gateway to Pakistan and the wider South Asia region. Being the sole flight connecting Pakistan with Africa, the planned service to Karachi will significantly contribute to strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between the two regions”.
